A.  Panel Operation:

1.  Control Stations: Two (2) control stations wired in series located on opposite sides of partition.

2.  Drive Unit Motor Equipped With:

a.  Outboard limit switches to prevent overextension.

b.  Positive chain drive attached to lead panel to pull partition across opening.

G.  Sound Seals:

1.  Vertical Interlocking Sound Seals Between Panels: Roll-formed astragals, with reversible tongue-and-groove configuration in each panel edge for universal panel operation.

  1. Horizontal Top Seals: Continuous-contact extruded bulb-shaped vinyl seals, with pairs of non-contacting vinyl fingers.

3.  Horizontal Bottom Seals:

Specifier Note: Select one of the following two types of bottom seals.

  1. Automatic Bottom Seal: Automatically activated operable seals providing nominal 2 inch (51 mm) operating clearance. Operating range of plus 1/2 inch (13 mm) to minus 1 1/2 inch (38 mm).

1)  Acceptable Material: Horizontal bottom seal manufactured by Modernfold, Inc., model IA2.

b.  Floating operable seals providing nominal 3 1/2 inch (89 mm) operating clearance within operating range of plus 1/2 inch (13 mm) to minus 3 inches (76 mm) for continuous floor contact.

1)  Acceptable Material: Floating bottom seal manufactured by Modernfold, Inc.

H.  Suspension System:

Specifier Note: Select one of the following two suspension systems.

1.  Steel:

a.  Suspension Tracks: Minimum 7 gage, 0.18 inch (4.57 mm) roll-formed steel. No failure of track or brackets with 5000 pounds (2250 kg) static point loading at midspan of track, with brackets at 48 inch (1220 mm) centers. Connected to structural support by pairs of 1/2 inch (13 mm) diameter threaded rods.

1)  Exposed Track Soffit: Steel, attached to track bracket without exposed fasteners and removable for service and maintenance; prepainted off-white.

2)  Carriers: All-steel trolleys with steel tired ball bearing wheels.

3)  Acceptable Material: #14 Suspension System manufactured by Modernfold, Inc.

2.  Aluminum:

a.  Suspension Tracks: Structural Aluminum. No failure of track or brackets with 5000 pounds (2250 kg) static point loading at midspan of track, with brackets at 48 inch (1220 mm) centers. Connected to structural support by pairs of 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) diameter threaded rods.

1)  Exposed Track Soffit: Integral to track shape, powder-coated off-white paint finish with no exposed guide rail installed below ceiling line. Track to accommodate termination of plenum sound barriers on both sides of track for maximum sound control.

2)  Carriers: One trolley located in alternating panels, with 3 inch (76.2 mm) diameter glass-reinforced nylon, steel precision-ground ball-bearing wheels. Trolleys attached to panels with 1/2 inch (13 mm) diameter pendent bolt mounted to welded steel mounting plate.

3)  Acceptable Material: #30 Suspension System manufactured by Modernfold, Inc.

I.  Options:

1.  Single Pass Door:

a.  ADA compliant, matching pass door of same thickness and appearance as panels.

1)  Trimless and equipped with friction latch, flush pulls and panic hardware for panic operation.
