Congratulations, you have finished the design process and are now ready to create your quilt!

Step 1: Gather the following items.

-Newspaper

-Glue

-2x2 squares

-Your Completed Quilt Pattern and

-Scissors

Step 2: Starting in the top left corner of your newspaper, begin gluing your pieces according to your completed quilt pattern. Work from the top left corner!

The newspaper is only used as backing. It is not the size of your completed quilt. You may have to add more newspaper!

Be sure to line up the first row and first column with the sides of the newspaper!

Don’t try to be perfect, just be neat! Small gaps are acceptable!

Step 3: Allow your quilt to dry and display it proudly!

I chose to display my students’ quilts on the ceiling in my room. Let’s take a look at some quilts my students created!

This student did a great job with their quilt. Some quilts are actual pictures and some are geometric patterns.

I like that this quilt has yellow and blue overlapping to make green.

Now, let’s learn from the mistakes of others. This quilt looks good at first sight, but it is not properly rotated. Can you see the mistake?

Can you find the mistake in this quilt?

This quilt has a few spaces, but is correctly put together. However, one of the pieces was not glued enough and fell off!

This is a great design that was not properly put together. Do you see the mistake here?

Some students chose to design their quilts with shapes such as hearts and diamonds and some students choose to put their initials in their quilt. Whatever design you have created will come together well if you remember to work from the top left corner and take your time. Have fun making your quilts!
