Welcome to Reverend Jenny!
Petertide is one of the traditional times for Ordination in churches and is particularly appropriate when a church is named after St Peter. It is a great pleasure to welcome her after being made a Deacon in the Church of England. Many church people already know Jenny and have been at services where she has exercised part of the ministry she has been called to in our churches. But I commend her to everyone and hope that, as she is able to take on more responsibilities that all our communities will get to know her and be blessed through her ministry among us.
Rev’d Jenny already has much valid and valuable experience as an Ordained Minister in the United Reformed Church and on retirement moved to live in Holton le Clay only to discover that she was being called into the Church of England. It has a been a testing and not a straight forward transition but all those called to ministry in the church have to have that vocation and calling tested and verified by those who have that authority. Indeed the Archbishop of Canterbury had to give his consent for this to happen.
We look forward to next year, when after further support and training she will have served her ‘Title’ (as it is known) and can be ‘Priested.’ More importantly we look forward to being blessed by her many gifts, experience and strengths that she brings to our churches and ministry.
