HR BENEFITS / TRAINING SPECIALIST

Bayer Properties is currently seeking an HR Specialist for our Birmingham Corporate Office. The position will be responsible for providing a wide range of services and functions including associate benefits, training and development and payroll.______

BENEFITS

Responsible for managing the full realm of benefit programsand compliance by evaluating, recommending and administering benefit programs.

Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Identify and recommend benefit programs to Leadership Team by studying associate requirements and trends and developments in benefits as well asobtaining advice from consultants
  • Support Leadership Teams decision making by analyzing benefit options and costs
  • Act as the company representative and the main contact regarding benefits with all benefit providers
  • Maintain benefit records by developing recordkeeping systems; initiating new-hire benefits; recording changes
  • Resolve employee questions and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures
  • Direct and manage the annual Benefit Open Enrollment process
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing the benefits and department operational budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
  • Provide monthly benefit metrics concerning benefit participation and the financial impact of benefits
  • Promote employee wellness programs that promote the organization and its relationship with associates
  • Prepare and submit governmental and regulatory reports
  • Act as the HR Champion for the management and implementation of new benefit software systems and programs

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

Responsible for providing leadership and direction in support of employee development needs necessary to achieve company and individual business goals.

  • Provide the vision and strategy in developing a training curriculum which aligns and supports company and individual goals
  • Provide leadership in identification of training design tools to assist in developing the most effective and robust training solutions
  • Manage the design and implementation of training programs that maximize the direct impact on associates knowledge, performance and development
  • Apply knowledge of future company direction to break down and identify gaps between current and future competencies. Create appropriate training programs to proactively bridge this gap
  • Create an on-boarding program to indoctrinate new employees into the company culture, including a standardized orientation process to provide readily available access to information necessary to create immediate associate productivity
  • Establish performance metrics to monitor and track company, individual asset and employee performance results against identified goals and executed training strategies
  • Responsible for the quality and impact of all learning products created or acquired
  • Develop and manage annual budget and training timelines

PAYROLL

Responsible for managing and insuring accurate and timely payroll processing:

  • Insure payroll records are updated by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles and department / location transfers.
  • Prepare, analyze and communicate reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Complete operational requirements by managing payroll function; following up on work results
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Training or Related Field
  • 5-7+ years employee training and presentation experience across multiple disciplines
  • 5-7+ years employee benefit and payroll administration / compliance / management
  • Knowledge of best practices in the areas of benefit planning and administration
  • Knowledge of HR related laws
  • Team player with strong “people skills” that will enhance the company’s employee and customer service oriented culture
  • Experience with statistical data analysis
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to present information, reports and recommendations in a clear and concise manner
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor team members
  • Experience using commonly accepted educational material design and delivery techniques
  • Technologically adept
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and other business applications
  • Proficient with Human Resources Information Systems; ADP Autopay II, ADP HR/Benefits Solution, ADP TLM – ezLaborManager Software
  • Self-starter
