Indicates Matter Stricken
Indicates New Matter
Pursuant to the motion by Senator Moore of the Legislative Day of Thursday, April 15, 1999, the Senate assembled at 11:30 A.M., the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.
A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:
Beloved, hear the Word of God, through His Prophet Isaiah, Chapter 35 (vv.3-8):
“Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Say to
those who are of a fearful heart, 'Be strong, do not fear! Here is
your God . . . He will come and save you . . . A highway shall be
there, and it shall be called the Holy Way’.”
Let us pray.
Our Father, decision time is here and we are not yet quite prepared for it. We don't think we've lost our way, but we face stumbling blocks in our way.
Isaiah told his people about a Holy Way! May we ask for it also? We're stumbling over each other! Help us to lift up each other.
We pray again for what we often pray: IF WE ARE WRONG, CORRECT US! IF WE ARE RIGHT, CONFIRM US!
Give us the mind and the heart for the Holy Way. Then we shall all, sisters and brothers, remember Isaiah's words, "They shall see the glory of the Lord, the majesty of our God."
Amen.
