In honor of black history month:

  • Reginald Lewis was the first African American businessman to make the 1992 Forbes Magazine list of the nation's 400 wealthiest people. After graduating from Virginia State University and Harvard Law School, Lewis worked for a prestigious NY law firm before opening his own law firmfive years later. In 1983 he moved into the world of finance establishing the TLC Group buying Beatrice International a giant food company for $985 million. In 1992 when he was listed on Forbes Magazines wealthiest, he had personal assets of over $400 million and his company TLC Beatrice International was the country's largest Black-owned business. Mr. Lewis donated millions of dollars to institutions ranging from homeless shelters, to universities including Virginia State and Howard. His $3 million donation to Harvard Law School in 1992 was the largest from an individual in the school's 175-year history. Harvard named its international law center in his honor, making it the first building at Harvard to be named for an African American. Reginald Lewis died in 1993 of brain cancer.

  • The State Drill Competition will be heldApril 8th. All Drill members need to send an email to both C/1LT Alex Lemus and SGT Leanos bymidnighttonight. If you do not send an email you will not be on the roster. The email must have your full name, rank, and grade.
  • HS Cadets, if you are interested in attending the last CHALLENGE DAY of the 2016 - 2017 school year, please obtain a permission slip from Ms. Frost or Dr. Smith. Space is limited to the first 100 cadets who turn in a completed permission slip.
  • Are you interested in learning about the Police Explorer or Police Cadet program? There will be a presentation in Regimental Headquarters today at 12:30pm. If you are interested, please receive a pass from your teacher to attend.
  • The snack vending machine is off limits until further notice. Anyone attempting to put money into the snack vending machines will lose their money. The water and Gatorade machines are still available
  • Mass promotion will begin onMarch 13th. More information will be announced at a later date. Cadets are reminded to continue to study. Make sure that you are studying for your next rank.
  • If you are taking the AP Test in May, your form is due immediately to Mr. Stremberg in room 1.
  • If you are interested in becoming Command Sergeant Major or Battalion Sergeant Major, applications are available in Regimental Headquarters.
  • The Wan TuWanzari wrestling club will be held at Oakland Techon Tuesdayand Thursdays from 6-8. This a big opportunity for anyone interested in wrestling. You'll be coached by Wrestling Hall of Famer Ashlee Sherman and you will be able to travel to Local, National and state meets and tournaments. For further information contact Cadet Maliq Manning.
  • This year's Cadet Corps summer camp will be the biggest in more than 20 years. Let's have a big OMI turnout and represent Grizzly Pride! Sign up atsummercamp.cacadets.org. Registration is $75 untilMarch 1stthen it goes up, so sign up now!
  • The Commandant will not support Cadet Corps summer camp attendance for Cadets who consistently fail to wear their uniforms properly. The Commandant will also remove Grizzly Dress and other class privileges such as Double Lunch for cadets who fail to wear their uniforms properly.

  • We would like to honor both our boy's and girl's basketball team on a great season. We especially like to honor the seniors of the teams. For the girls we like to honor, Thandiewe Deal and Jori Belton. For the boys we like to honor Joshua Humphrey and Kingston Watson.
