Landsdale Farm School

Evacuation Procedures

2017

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD EVACUATION BE CARRIED OUT UNTIL THE PATHWAY TO THE EXITS OR THE EXTERNAL PARTS OF THE BUILDING / FARM HAVE BEEN CHECKED TO MAKE SURE SUCH PATHWAYS ARE SAFE.

Landsdale Farm School

Evacuation Plan

Landsdale Farm School is a four-hectare site with buildings of single story wooden construction and steel and iron for workshop and animal shelters/barns.

The main area of concern is that of fire. Adjacent to the residential area is a Conservation Park, which is natural bush and thus has the potential to cause additional danger to the farm buildings.

The residential area and main hall / office area are entirely wooden buildings, which have been treated with oil coating on exterior walls to assist in the preservation of the timber. This adds to the danger of fire in that the oil compound would accelerate any conflagration.

A fire control point has been established at the bore (located on Landsdale Road entry) with instructions for the fire fighters to operate. A mobile fire fighting unit is available at the point to enable management of spot fires.

The animal barns are constructed of steel and iron and are substantial strength. The main animal barn would be an ideal place of refuge in the event of a cyclone.

General Objective

In the event of an emergency to ensure safety of people on site by safe, prompt and efficient evacuation.

Emergency Control Organization

1.  The Farm Manager (or nominee) will take total control in the event of any emergency. If the Manager is unavailable the organizer of the group on site will assume control.

2.  The Office staff will contact relevant Emergency Services. In the event of the receptionist being unavailable the organizer of any group on the farm will call the appropriate emergency service. (Phone Numbers available in cottages and on exterior walls of buildings)

3.  The organizer of any group on site will ensure their group is accounted for.

4.  All groups and individuals will move to the assembly area, which is the Main Hall – northern side.

5.  ATO’s (in consultation with the Principal) to determine appropriate animal management processes and egress.
