GENERAL PRACTICE SPECIALTY TRAINING
SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENT
For hosting a GPStR or BBT trainee employed by the Single Employer Acute NHS Hospital Trust
This Contract is between Professor Abdol Tavabie, Dean of Postgraduate General Practice Education of the HEKSS Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education Deanery (“The Dean”)
And
Dr [Insert Name of Trainer] of [Insert Practice address] ; an approved GP Trainer (“The Trainer”)
Whereas the GP Trainer has, with the approval of the Dean and following agreed procedures, agreed provide a GP training placement for
Dr [Insert trainee’s Name]to be a GP Specialty Training Registrar (GPStR) / Broad Based Training Trainee*
from [Insert start date] to [Insert Finish Date] at the agreed proportion of full time, both agree to the establishment of this placement on the following terms and conditions:
1. During the term of this placement the GP Trainer shall use his or her best endeavours to promote the education and clinical experience of the trainee following the guidance laid down by the HEKSS Postgraduate GP School Board and the GMC.
2. During this time, provided the appropriate guidance (as described by the HEKSS GP School and the GMC) have been met by the Trainer, the HEKSS GP School will provide educational support and the HEKSS Deanery will indemnify the GP Trainer should there be any complaint of dereliction of duty by that Trainer.
3. The GP Trainer will ensure that they have signed the SLA with the Single Employer Acute Trust and will comply with the requirements of the host organisation.
4. The GP Trainer will ensure that they have signed the appropriate SEAT Joint Honorary/EducationalContract with the trainee.
5.The GP Trainer will claim from the HEKSS GP Department, the GP Trainer Grant on receipt of the appropriate invoice (which must be submitted, for ST1/2 trainees towards the end of the four month period, for ST3 trainees, 3 x four monthly invoices, or for BBT Trainees during the 6 month period) within the appropriate financial year. Where the GPStR is less than full time training, the GP Trainer grant will be paid in full.
6. The GP Trainer will ensure that the trainee has undertaken the Safeguarding Children (Child Protection) training to the appropriate level annually.
7.The GP Trainer will ensure that the trainees has the appropriate GMC registration, Medical Defence Indemnity and, that for GPSTRs onlythat they are on the National Performers List (NPL) during the GP placement. (BBT Trainees do not need to be on the NPL) The GP Trainer will keep a copy of the appropriate Certificates on file.
8. The GP Trainer shall keep records of all sickness absences of the trainee and shall notify the Lead Employer every month (including zero absence reporting), in accordance with the Single Employer SLA.
9. The GP Trainer shall inform the Single Employer Acute Trust of significant and untoward events, particularly relating to patient safety
10. The Trainer will notify the Dean, or his or her immediate representative immediately should there be any concerns that could lead to a termination of the contract of employment with the trainee.

The SLA contract should be completed at commencement of the attachment and forwarded (within 4 weeks of the start date) to the GP Training Recruitment Manager, HEKSS Deanery, 7 Bermondsey Street, London, SE1 2DD.
