MAG Performance Pathway Programme, South Essex GC

Dear Coach/Club

We are pleased to be able to offer a limited number of places for coaches to access the highly regarded performance pathway programme running in partnership with South Essex Gymnastics Club; home of Olympic and World medallists and their excellent team of coaches. We are inviting applications frommotivated coaches who wishto further their personal development and who aspire to achieve future success on the Men’s Artistic Elite Performance Pathway.

Successful coaches will be involved in allfour training camps scheduled in 2016-17 subject to: -

  • the relevant financial contribution being made to cover costs;
  • a commitment to fully engage with the other attendees at the camp, supporting lead coaches where required and to maximise the learning opportunity available;and
  • a commitment to share their experience and knowledge and contribute to the future success of the sport within Performance Pathway Programme activities in Scotland or other suitable activities chosen by Scottish Gymnastics.

Applications will be reviewed by the Performance Pathway Manager and the Workforce Development Manager with input from the Men’s Technical Panel. Should there be more applications than places available,a selection will be carried out taking into consideration the aspirations of the coach, their desired learning outcomes, and the anticipated impact to the club/Scotland.

If you are interested and wish to be involved, please complete and sign the attached application form, ensuring that a club official endorses the applicationand return to by 12pm on Friday 22nd July.Applications can be submitted at a later date, but will only be considered if places are still available.

The 2016-17 camp dates are

Tue 23rd to Fri 26th August 2016 / Tue 6th to Fri 9th December 2016*
Mon 13th to Thu 16th February 2017 / Mon 3rd to Thu 6th April 2017

*please note that the December camp will take place in Scotland at the same cost (unless accommodation is not required)

Coaches will be required to participate fully and assist in the integrated training of the attending coaches and gymnasts with the support of the South Essex coaching team,and are encouraged to participate in the South Essex sessions out with the planned camp timetable.

Individual learning plans will not be issued and coaches attendingwill be expected to attend with their own learning outcomes prepared in advance. Coaches are advised to seek feedback and discussion following sessions and are welcome to request to South Essex GC attendanceat training sessions out with the programmed timetable.

The cost to attend each camp is £266 which includes return flights, airport to hotel transfers, accommodation (on a shared basis) and meals. Travel to and from Glasgow airport and any additional accommodation isn’t included and must be arranged by the club/coach at their own expense.

Payment can be spread over the year with 10 monthly payments of £106 to cover the cost of the 4 camps.

If you only wish to attend some of the camps please indicate which ones on the application form.

Application process

  1. Please submit applications to y 12pm Friday 22nd July
  2. Places will then be confirmed and payment requested to finalise the bookings
  3. Those attending will be issued a copy of the programme pack
  4. Following the camp coaches may be requested to present on their learning points and the positive impact of the experience within their coaching environment; as well as to participate in and contribute to future pathway activities and the sharing of their knowledge with other coaches.
