POSITION:Meal Deliverer Part-Time (FLSA Status:NON-EXEMPT)

REPORTS TO:AAA Food Service Manager 1

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Meal Deliverer position involves planning, organizing and scheduling the daily meal delivery from the nutrition services operations for the Area Agency on Aging. The employee in this position carries responsibility for the functions of homebound and Senior Center meal delivery; light vehicle maintenance and operation of a motor vehicle;sanitation and sanitation of deliveryequipment. The Meal deliverer position is directly responsible to the AAA Food Service Manager 1 position.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required skill and knowledge is qualifying of operation of a motor vehicle.

A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.

A 6- month requirement of operating a motor vehicle with a valid PA driver license and with no suspension of driver’s license within the last 3 years is required

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the knowledge of geographical area served, principles of operation of van to detect defective equipment, traffic laws, operate a motor vehicle safely and skillfully;knowledge ofmodern practices and principles of food service operation; ability to communicate effectively with staff, coworkers, other agencies, vendors, and consumers;ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

An employee in this classification is responsible for performing assignments that are technical in nature and are carried out in accordance with administrative and personnel practices, procedures and precedents, specific goals and objectives and any applicable legal standards or regulations. Specific job duties include the following:

  • Distributes all homebound and Senior Center meal deliveries in accordance with the operations of the Agency’s food service departmentpolicies & procedures from the Department of Aging Program Directive:conduct positive employee relations; monitors inventory ofdelivery equipment; performs food service tray line duties; reports deliveryequipment repair and maintenance to lead driver; completes county motor vehicle equipment and repairs slips;follows procedures for food sanitation and safety management of the meals.
  • Coordinates all meal delivery in specific area in conjunction with the Food Service Managers and Case Workers written and oral directions.
  • FollowsMeal Delivery operational policies and procedures for the food service department,as required.
  • Reports all vehiclesto lead driver for servicing and inspecting county motor vehicles.
  • Transports the inventories of SeniorCenter supplies of food and non-food related supplies and materials.
  • In consultation with the Agency’s CountyCourthouse attends a Defensive Driving course.
  • Conducts meal temperature checks once per month of meal delivery route.
  • Compiles and maintains mileage data on Agency’s county motor vehiclesas required.
  • Calculates part time timesheet every two weeksfor Food Service manager.
  • Collects all daily garbage from the County vehicles and disposes of each day.
  • Collects, cleans and organizes the daily cases for meal distribution according to safety and sanitation requirementsfor the food service department. Sign cleaning log each day.
  • Maintenance and cleanliness of the Case room area for the Food service department.
  • Operate and adhere to safe driving speed limits, wearing seatbelts, gas tank refilled ½ tank, report any vehicle damages to Food Service manager.

The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate and in the food service environment occasionally high. Candidates will undergo a medical examination as a condition of their employment.
