UNIFORM DRESS CODE

Colors:

Shirts - Navy, Red, Royal Blue, Sky Blue, Gold, and Plaid #41,

Pants - Khaki and Navy Pants

Uniform Pieces:

Shirts, Pants, Skirts, Shorts, Skorts, Sweaters, Socks, Jumpers, Capris, and Belts

Uniform pieces can be purchased at any store as long as they meet uniform

specifications.

Dress Code Policy

1.Pants, slacks, and capris

  • Navy or khaki
  • No more than one size larger than waist
  • Standard uniform style – no jeans, or flare leg styles

2.Shorts, skirts, skorts, and jumpers

  • Navy, khaki, or plaid
  • No more than one size larger in the waist and no shorter than 3” above theknee
  • Standard uniform style

3.Top shirts – polo-style shirts

  • Solid colors – red, royal blue, navy, gold, or sky blue
  • Short sleeves or long sleeves without logos or emblems of any type worn tucked in
  • Undershirts or turtleneck shirts (white only) may be worn under school uniform shirt
  • Fridays are “spirit” day. Mozelle Johnston or Lobo t-shirts may be worn tucked in

4.Belts

  • Required unless no belt loops were originally on slacks, skirt, shorts, etc.
  • Threaded through belt loops and made of leather, vinyl, or cloth
  • Solid color – black, navy blue, or brownwithout ornamentation

5.Jackets, sweaters, and sweatshirts

  • Must be a uniform color – navy, red, or royal blue
  • Must be plain with no writing or LOGOS – no hooded sweatshirts
  • Uniform polo shirts with colors must be worn underneath the sweatshirts with collar outside
  • No sweatpants

6.Winter coats

  • May be any color or style
  • Not to be worn in the classroom

7.Socks or Tights

  • Must be solid color
  • Must have no designs

8.Accessories

  • No plastic/rubber colored bracelets
  • No large/bulky necklaces or earrings
  • No purses

9.Shoes

  • Shoes should be suitable for physical education class (i.e., tennis shoes)
  • No flip flops or cleats will be allowed

INFRACTIONS
Parents enrolling a new student to MJE will have two weeks to comply with the uniform policy. Solid red or navy t-shirt with jeans will be acceptable during this period.
Enforcement will be as follows:
1st Uniform Rule Infraction: Student will be sent to the clothing closet, a note will be sent home to the parent/guardian, and (1) day recess detention.
2nd Uniform Rule Infraction: Student will be sent to the clothing closet, a note will be sent home to the parent/guardian, and (2) days recess detention.
3rd Uniform Rule Infraction: Student will be sent to the clothing closet, a note will be sent home to the parent/guardian, and (3) days recess detention.
4th Uniform Rule Infraction: Student will be sent to the clothing closet, a note will be sent home to the parent/guardian, and (4) days recess detention.
5th Uniform Rule Infraction: Student will be sent to the clothing closet, a note will be sent home to the parent/guardian, and (5) days recess detention plus (5) days lunch detention.
