Marketing Assistant
(Prince Rupert or Terrace office)
Job Description
Nature of Work
The Marketing Assistant is responsible for some of the key promotional activities of CityWest, including website & social media maintenance, event planning, and disbursement of community sponsorships. Working under the supervision of the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Assistant will support promotional campaigns in alignment with the vision, mission and values of CityWest.
Principal Accountabilities
· Maintenance of website and development of online content
· Maintenance of Facebook page and development of regular postings schedule
· Monitoring and analysis of social media trends and content
· Coordination of events, planned by either CityWest or third parties
· Selection and processing of requests for community sponsorships
Required Education & Experience
· University or College degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism, or Marketing-related discipline
· Possession of a BC Class 5 Drivers license (without restrictions) or another provincial equivalent
· 3 years’ experience in a position that required written communications in alignment with company strategies
Knowledge and Abilities
· Advanced skills in using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; basic skills in using Excel
· In-depth knowledge of social media, specifically Facebook and Twitter, is required. Knowledge of other types, such as Instagram and Pinterest, is preferred.
· Knowledge of website development using a content management system (CMS)
· Experience in volunteering for events; experience in event planning is preferred
· Familiarity with culture of Northwest British Columbia
· Ability to work hours outside of regular work day
· Flexibility to travel to any of CityWest’s markets
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines
· Ability to work independently, and as part of a cross-departmental team
· Knowledge of culture and politics of Northwest B.C.
· Basic knowledge of telecommunications technology
Other information
· This position is a one-year contract with the possibility of an extension
· Candidate will be required to work nights and weekends
· Travel will be required on a regular basis between Prince Rupert, Terrace, Kitimat, Smithers, and other locations as determined
