Dissertation:

“Detection, Recognition & Interpretation of moving objects and their behaviour in dynamic scene”

Duration: : September 2003 to June 2009

Platform: MATLAB 7.01 and C Language

Description:

Extracting moving objects from image sequences is of major interest in numerous applications such as target tracking, vehicle navigation, video indexing etc. Motion is only a means for understanding a larger and dynamic picture. Subtraction of two consecutive frames in the image sequence is the basic method for the detection of moving object. Initially, the algorithms presented are based on subtraction techniques such as simple difference, background subtraction, sum of absolute difference and image ratio-variance method. To overcome the limitations of subtraction methods, i.e. effect of noise and variation in illumination, new methods are developed. These algorithms are based upon Wavelet decomposition, Segmentation-Kalman estimation tracking and Cross correlation between two frames. These techniques and their performance are compared on the basis of parameters such as processing time i.e. in terms of average time for the execution of a frame, Detection rate (DR) and False alarm rate (FAR).
