Objectives

Participants will understand: the policy context for healthcare reform; the Affordable Care Act and how it will change the practice environment; the new and upcoming CMS payment policies, including various pay-for-performance incentives and penalties for physicians and hospitals; and the new models of payment currently being tested by the CMS Innovation Center.

Participants will understand: the elements of the Cigna transparency/physician profiling initiative; how the initiative was initiated; how the initiative works, including data sources, measurement, reporting, etc.; how the initiative is being adopted by employers in their insurance benefit design efforts; and how consumers are using the tools associated with the initiative.
