SATS
SATS for year 6 will commence on Monday 10th May and the last test will be on the morning of Friday 14th May.
Swimming will still take place on Friday afternoon as normal.
May we request that all children arrive promptly at school each morning? Please be aware that this is a very busy week in school and that staff will ensure that everything runs smoothly each morning during the tests and the children will have chance to relax in the afternoons!
New Reception Children
We will be welcoming our new reception children into school on Wednesday 9th June for the first of their preschool induction sessions. They will be spending the afternoon in class 1. We are looking forward to welcoming them into our school.
Bags 2 Schools
All the blue bags have now been sent home. If you have not received one please contact the school office. You may use ordinary black bin bags if necessary. They are coming to collect the bags on Monday 17th May, in the morning. You can start sending your bags into school on Friday 14th May. Due to a lack of storage space please do not bring bags in any earlier.
Thank you for all your support.
Tree Planting
Our year 5 children helped to plant a number of trees at the Old Brock Station Nature Reserve last Wednesday. We obtained the trees from the ‘New Shoots’ campaign which was run by Lancashire County Council last year. The aim of this campaign was to help schools with small areas of tree planting and to give pupils the chance to do something positive for the environment. The children were accompanied by Mrs Lane-Dixon, Mrs Green, Steve Edwards (LCC Countryside Officer), and Councillors Bill Collinsonand Jen Olivine of Myerscough & Bilsborrow Parish Council.
Everyone really enjoyed the morning and the children are looking forward to visiting the nature reserve in the future. We are hoping that some photos may appear in the Courier so please keep your eyes peeled.
Float Meeting
There will be a meeting held in class one after school on Monday 10th May for all those who are involved in the float.
Thursday Football Club
Unfortunately the football club we run after school on Thursdays will have to be cancelled due to lack of numbers. We will review this at a later date if more children become interested in taking part.
Stay and Play
Please could we remind all parents and carers that all children attending our After School Club must be collected before 5.14pm? Our club is not Ofsted registered so therefore has to run for under two hours.
Swimming – Reception Children
Our reception children have been invited to take part in our swimming lessons at Garstang Swimming Pool along with all the other children in school. They will be able to attend these sessions every Friday afternoon until the half term break (last session Friday 28th May). All the children need to make sure they have their swimming kits in school and all the girls need to wear a swimming hat. These can be purchased from the swimming pool.
Uniform labelling
Please can you ensure that your child’s uniform is named? We are struggling to find the correct owners of jumpers etc. that we find around school.
Happy Birthday!
We would like to wish the following children a happy birthday:
