The Library provides services and support for around 900 FTE staff and students of the College. During term we open every evening during the week and every Saturday. The post holder is not required to work evenings or weekends regularly, but will be part of a pool for back-up cover in emergencies.

We have nine members of staff, including a full-time Librarian (line manager to this post), a 0.5 FTE Assistant Librarian working particularly with Drama (job share to this post), a job share Cataloguer (two post holders), a full-time Senior Library Assistant and three part-time Library Assistants (two term-time only). We also employ students to help with shelving, book covering and some Issue Desk support.

All the librarians in the team work at the Help Desk (currently open 11.00-14.00, Monday-Friday), answering enquiries from users and also provide cover as needed at the Issue Desk. There are more than 70,000 records in our library management system and we have around 580 ejournals. We run training sessions for students and library inductions, covering the use of our resources. As part of our Issue Desk services, we also lend out a high number of orchestral sets and receive requests for new material and inter library loans. As a team, we try to participate actively in the life of the College and collaborate wherever possible with other library services across Wales.
