5. 2014 “End the R Word” Champaign
· What is it?
o Spread the Word to End the Word, developed by Special Olympics to raise awareness of the derogatory use of the R-word (retard or retarded) and its negative effects on people with intellectual disabilities, as well as their families and friends.
· AADMD Campaign Chair – James Lin, University of Pittsburgh ()
o In contact with local chapters to support, help coordinate and confirm campaign activities.

o Goal: Introduce this information to students and healthcare professionals to increase awareness and influence behavior changes with regards to dehumanizing language

ACTION: James Lin will contact and work with local chapters regarding campaign. James will be introduced to Dr. Perlman to discuss end R-Word Champaign.

7. American Student Dental Association- Medically Underserved Population ID/ND
· POC: Andrew Smith, ASDA governance and advocacy manager
· Work with ASDA bring awareness to the medical and dental care needed by patients with neurodevelopmental disorders and intellectual disabilities (ND/ID)
· Waiting for ADA’s response to the New England Delegation ‘s resolution that will be presented at the ADA Annual Session (Nov. 2013)
· FUTURE: Develop a resolution to present at ASDA Annual Session Spring 2014
8. Special Hope Foundation Grant - UCEED (Update from Dr. Matt Holder)
· University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEED)
· Present 3-5 grants for $150, 000 - 250,000
· Currently 12 submissions/candidates

ACTION: Discussion with Dr. Holder regarding routes to move forward with making DFSS a sustainable project. We need to make a blueprint that can be adopted. A “do-it-yourself” guide must be developed. A corporate sponsor is necessary (ie: Patterson), similar to the partnership between Give Kids a Smile and Henry Schein.
Abrahim Caroci was working on the DFSS blueprint, no current updates.
AADMD is in support of the continuation of these efforts.
