Dear Summer Conference Participant:

We, at the NAREA office, hope that you have had a restful and rejuvenating summer. The new school year is upon us, and most of you have returned—or will soon return—to your work in centers and schools. We hope that all of you who were a part of the FifthNAREA Summer Conference will return to school with new ideas and plans, and increased enthusiasm inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy of education.

There are many groups and individuals to thank for making the Fifth NAREA Summer Conference a success—

Riverfield Country Day School staff and faculty for their role in planning and executing the conference, and for sharing their wonderful school.

Paola Cagliari and Massimo Ghirardi for their beautifully prepared presentations,

and Leslie Morrow for skillfully translating their words.

North American educators who presented during the break out sessions.

Reggio Children for making the experience of visiting the wonderful exhibit

“The Wonder of Learning—The Hundred Languages of Children” possible.

We especially want to thank all of you—the conference attendees—for your participation, enthusiasm, and comments. Whether this was your first or your fifth NAREA Summer Conference, we hope each of you experienced some advancement in your knowledge of the Reggio approach. We also hope the conference was a positive experience for you and that you plan to continue your professional development at next year's summer conference. In the next month, a summary of the Fifth NAREA Summer Conference, including participant evaluations, will be posted on the Reflection page in the Members Only Area of the NAREA website [

We have attached a copy of the names and schools of this year's summer conference participants. The NAREA office does not have permission to distribute specific contact information. However, we hope that this list will be of value to those who would like to contact other summer conference participants that they may have met in June.

We wish you a constructive and rewarding school year.

Regards,

Julie Sewell
