Hardware Plan Description

We began designing our hardware plan structured around obtaining SmartBoards, ELMOs (electronic document viewers), and LCD Projectors (which additional replacement bulbs) in every one of the 41 classrooms of the school. This will enable every teacher to have the same technological resources available to them throughout the school day and year-round. The next step was to assign every teacher their own laptop. This is beneficial in many ways since teachers would now be able to access and utilize all needed information both at school and while away. To introduce students to technology, we incorporated iPad labs into the Kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms. This will allow for students to thrive in an innovative educational setting at the same time as prepping them for future technology devices in upcoming grades. We also added 2 desktops into each 4th and 5th grade classroom, since those students are more experienced in using computers and technology, while the younger grades receive student responders so they may electronically communicate during lessons and presentations. Since 2nd grade did not receive any additional technology materials directly at this time, we have provided a mobile lab accessible to the entire school. All mentioned steps are necessary in the first year as it will immediately increase productivity and communication, along with the production of cohesiveness with our technology mission statement.

In year 2 our hardware budget plan, we continued to furnish the remaining curriculum classrooms with desktop computers and student responders. We also extended the iPad labs into the 2nd and 3rd grades as well, which will prolong the knowledge of the device usage since the younger students have already been using them for an entire year. Another mobile lab is added for school use, while every 4th and 5th grader receives his/her own Netbook. This takes our mission statement a step further by allowing students to becoming 21st century learners both in and outside the classroom and preparing them for upcoming technological uses in middle school.

In the final year, desktops, student responders and an iPad lab are all added to the Special Education, Resource, and Non-Core Exploratory classrooms. These rooms were saved for last so that students may become accustomed to the new technology in their every-day curricular classrooms throughout the previous years. The 4th and 5th graders receive an iPad lab so that they may continue what they have learned since being introduced to the devices in kindergarten, as well as a final mobile lab addition.

The hardware budget plan ensures that all teachers and students have the ability to reach our school’s technology mission statement.
