How to use Instagram

The following will provide you with a step-by-step on how to use Instagram. Instagram is a free photo sharing program and social network. It allows users to take a photo, apply a digital filter then share it with other Instgram users. It’s connected to the social network as well as a variety of other networks.

To access Instagram, you must first download the app onto your cellular device that connects to the Internet; it also works on iPad or iPod touch.

If you do not have a cellphone that connects to the internet or IPad/iPod touch, then you must connect to this service by going to www.Webstagram.com on your computer. Next, create a username and password that clearly represents who you are. Then, for the program, add a profile picture and a short biography about yourself. You can also choose to connect your account to Facebook, Twitter, etc. if you already have an existing account on these social media sites. This will allow you to share photos to these services, it will also let your Facebook and Twitter followers find you easily.

After you have created an account and have some followers, you can upload photos of your life. You do this by accessing Instagram/Webstagram and tapping or clicking your mouse on the blue camera button in the bottom center of the page. After doing this, it will take you to your photo album and you may select the photo you wish to upload. You can also add a filter/effect to your photo as well as add a short summary about your photo in a caption. If your profile is set to public, you can add tags to your photos (hash tags) and make them visible on public tag pages.

To tag a photo...

1.)  Select a photo and choose a filter

2.)  On the screen you see after choosing a filter, type your hash tag in the caption. Ex. #awesome, #fun or #loveit.

3.)  If you want to tag a photo you’ve already uploaded, just include your hash tag in a comment on your photo.

Notes: Private users’ tagged photos will not appear on public tag pages. Numbers ARE allowed in hash tags. You can only tag your OWN photos, not someone else’s. The tag limit is 30 tags per picture. Old versions of Apple IOS do not support hash tags, be sure to update Instagram frequently.

Enjoy Instagram and start sharing your photos!
