The Lansing Township Police Department is seeking candidates for the position Police Officer.

This is a full time position.

Starting Salary is $43,165.23 plus benefits package

Required minimum entrance qualifications

At the time of application, an applicant must

  1. Be a citizen of the United States
  2. Associates Degree or equivalent
  3. M.C.O.L.E.S. certified or certifiable
  4. Have at least 20/40 vision in each eye, correctable to 20/20 vision
  5. Have normal hearing in each ear
  6. Never been convicted of:
  7. A felony
  8. Operating under the influence of intoxicating liquor of drugs
  9. Two moving violations within the 24 months previous to application.
  10. Reckless driving offense
  11. Not have been suspended, demoted, discharged or asked to resign form a police position as the result of disciplinary action or because of criminal conduct
  12. Never had operator’s license suspended, revoked or denied.
  13. Sign a two-year agreement

  1. All applicants must pass a physical exam to prove freedom from any physical or mental defects, deformities, or diseases which might incapacitate the applicant from the performance of the duties of police officer.
  2. A background investigation shall be conducted to evaluate the applicant’s employment, school, home, medical, credit, criminal, moral character, driving or other personal records. In addition, all candidates will be fingerprinted.
  • Candidates must pass the written and oral portions of the selection process with a minimum passing score of 70%. All requirements, including the medical examination and background investigation, must be successfully passed in their entirety to enable a candidate to be selected for hire
