Healthcare Workforce Data Center -Dr. Elizabeth Carter, Director HWDC

·  Dr. Carter briefed the workgroup on the purpose of the DHP Healthcare Workforce Data Center and its role in the collection of data for the various health professions. The survey aggregate data will be collected yearly during the renewal cycle and will be used to determine the “supply” side of the profession.

·  A printout of the DHP HWDC website was distributed along with the existing and proposed organizational chart for the Virginia Health Care Workforce Implementation Grant.

·  Health Workforce Development Authority (VHWDA) has been awarded a State Health Workforce Development Implementation grant in the amount of $1.93 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Virginia is the only state in the nation to receive this grant, which will be used to implement and administer this new authority and to make available funds for regional health workforce planning and implementation efforts.

·  The VHWDA’s chief mission is to facilitate the development of a statewide health professions ‘workforce pipeline’ that identifies, educates, recruits, and retains a diverse and culturally competent quality healthcare workforce for all Virginians.

Workgroup Overview and Purpose-Dr. Elizabeth Carter, Director HWDC

·  Dr. Carter stated that the overall objective of the Committee is to create a Pharmacy survey by September 30, 2011. A few members of the Committee stated that they may be able to “test” the survey with a group prior to implementation.

·  The Committee would like to add a separate survey for Pharmacy Techs. Mr. Crow will start working on this survey immediately.

Review of Survey Materials-Mr. Justin Crow, Policy & Planning Specialist
