Annual Meeting

Presidents Message:
Matt Galambos NELA History: Competed in my early 20’s and then took a break for 4 years. Wanted to make things better and have more entertaining shows. It has really paid off what we have accomplished. If the audience is happy for many years that will bring in more money. I came from a college setting where it’s a team event to the pro circuit . I wanted to re-create it. Shows are entertaining and the crowd is great. We are good at the big things and suck at the small things. Need to combine the good of NELA & NYSLA. I’m not going to be running again for President. Burned out with it and need to step back. I will still be involved but on the back burner. I would like to endorse Vince for President.
Vice President Message:
A big Thank you to Matt for all that he has done. Without his help we couldn’t have gotten so much done in a short time. Presque Isle Show went well and we got it pulled off. Looked into getting a trailer something that we should do in the next couple years. That would hold all of the equipment and bring it back and forth to the shows. About $7000 to $8000. Vendor door, ramp and about 16’ long x 7’ wide. Vince & Mark donated the proceeds from the wood sold to MV to have the sawing stands built. They will be portable and stackable. They will be similar to Slingerlands stands. Need to try and get Women’s & Master’s events at all of the shows. Our judge and announcer should be able to compete at a couple of events at a show. Someone needs to step up and help make this happen. A big difference between NELA & NYSLA is NY only has 2 shows that are not association shows. We have about 30 shows in New England. For us to get more NELA Shows they will probably need to be new shows. Most won’t want to give up the control. NELA cannot survive on membership dues. In the future we need to get the fairs to give NELA the entry money at least.

Old Business:
Podium Ideas: May want to ask the crowd to try and get a sponsor for an event. Need to recognize the winners of the events. Merkley did this at his show. Clinic JP for next year. Matt Galambos will head this up. Nottermann will host it at the school. Cans for the ax throw need to be seltzer less sticky? Need carpet for Presque Isle.
New Business:
Fundraising needs to happen. T Shirts, specialty t shirts, sweatshirts, jackets could be ordered with membership. Glasses, pens, koosies? Need someone to head it up. Cassie Silkin & Travis Courser volunteered to do this. Membership renewal date to Jan15 like NYSLA? Keep membership $ the same. Julie Taylor will be happy to do the scorekeeping. On the entry forms we should put a line on it for sharing equipment. All membership fees have to be paid before the day of the show. Maybe a $10 late entry fee?
