Boys Basketball Rules

2016-17

11 – 12 & 13 – 14 Age groups

There will be two 20-minute halves. The clock will run except during the last two minutes of each half. The clock will stop in the last two minutes of each half on dead ball situations.

•In case of a tie, each team will get a two-minute break and 2-minute overtime. The clock will stop in the last 1 minute. This will continue until a winner emerges.

•In the regulation league game, each team will receive a 5-minute rest at halftime.

•TIME OUTS: Each team will receive two 30 Second time-outs per half. They will not carry over. IF overtime is needed each team will have one time out per overtime period.

•Players must report to the scorekeeper before entering the game. If three or more substitutes enter the game, the opposing coach may request a line-up before play resumes. Substitutes will be notified by the referee to enter the court.

•ALL PLAYERS MUST PLAY AT LEAST HALF THE GAME. Coaches must make every effort to satisfy this requirement.

•Players and coaches must be respectful of officials.

•Referee’s decisions are final.

•If a coach receives a Technical Foul the entire coaching staff must remain seated during remainder of the game. If a coach receives two Technical Fouls, he must leave the building and cannot coach the following week.

•11 – 12 teams can press the last two minutes of each half

•13 – 14 teams may press. A team in any division may not press with a lead of 15 or more.

•Teams must have four players to start. A team unable to field 4 players will forfeit the game. That said, the available players from each team should be divided up and a pickup game played in the scheduled game slot.

•A team must be prepared to play no later than 10 minutes after the scheduled start time.

IMPORTANT NOTE

All boys rules unless otherwise noted herein will be according to the 2016-17 High School Federation Rules.

Note: J.V. – Varsity or Fresh-Soph high school players are not eligible to participate in travel rec programs. With coaches permission, boys can play in the high school Sunday league.

CANCELLATIONS – due to inclement weather, when any phase of the snow emergency plan is in effect or if school closes early or for the entire day, there will be no games or practices. Please register with the Rained Out notification system.
