A. Course Objectives

The main objective of this course is to teach students how to design steel structures used for civil and industrial buildings. For this purpose, structural configuration philosophy, safety and performance criteria and design and verification methods used for these types of structures are presented.

B. COURSE TOPICS

Particular problems regarding the analysis and design of steel structure in seismic areas. Structures for industrial buildings: configuration, analysis and design. Structures for multistory buildings: configuration, analysis and design. Structures for large span buildings: configuration, analysis and design. Fire design of buildings

C. APPLICATION TOPICS

Single-storey industrial buildings

Building with (without) cranes.

Multistorey building.

Large span single storey structure

D. EDUCATIONAL METHODS EMPLOYED

·  Practical works: explication, example, experiment, simulation, problematisation

E. Evaluation procedure

Examen scris cu durata de 3h. Ponderea activitatii pe parcurs este de 50%.
