Job Purpose:
Provide a data collection, maintenance, analysis and information production service for the Policy and Planning Section, particularly in relation to punctuality and reliability, Real Time Information (RTI) and qualitative information including data from all sources such as surveys, eCRM and operators. Production of regular updates to support performance frameworks and reports.

Context:
Responsible for providing business analysis and management information to clients as determined by the Data, Research and Intelligence Manager and Business Intelligence Manager, particularly in relation to the collation and analysis of punctuality and reliability information, RTI and quality with a requirement to interpret and provide clear and concise reporting.
Working with other members of the Data, Research and Intelligence Section to provide in-depth reporting and outputs for the Business Intelligence section and supporting target setting and performance frameworks.

Responsibilities/Key Accountabilities:
  1. Analyse information to support the work of internal and external clients and produce outputs for these clients as determined by the Data, Research & Intelligence Manager.
  1. Assist the Business Intelligence Manager and Data Research & Intelligence Manager with the development of targets, particularly relating to performance frameworks, and monitoring of those targets to enable key clients to understand progress towards delivering of the required goals.
  1. Build, develop and maintain databases, sources of data and output applications to provide regular outputs and reports to the Business Intelligence Team, Customer Experience and Public Transport Board and other meetings as appropriate.
  1. Manage punctuality and reliability information, quality and RTI (including on-vehicle surveys, market research surveys, eCRM and operator information) and provide outputs and reports to meet SYPTEs requirements of monitoring performance frameworks.
  1. Liaise with internal and external clients on projects to determine their business needs and deliver reports as required to ensure the outputs meet their objectives.
  1. Assist the Data Services Officer in developing the data processing capabilities of the Data Services Team to ensure survey programmes are undertaken to the requirements and standards determined by the Data, Researchand Intelligence team and clients.
  1. Produce clear and concise reports to key internal clients containing recommendations based on a deep understanding of the data in either verbal or written form in order for actions to be undertaken by the key clients.
  1. Any other responsibilities that commensurate with the post as directed by the Data, Research and Intelligence Manager.

Planning and Organisation:
  • Use knowledge and expertise to assist the Data, Research and Intelligence Manager and clients in analysing and acting on new and changing market opportunities.
  • Produce and maintain reports and reporting processes to inform internal and external customers of the Data, Researchand Intelligence team, on both a routine and ad hoc basis.
  • Arrange, organise and attend internal and external meetings as necessary
  • Contribute to team working within the section and liaise with others to continually improve cross-functional efficiency.

Essential Internal and External Relationships:
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team, the department, other Departments and external clients including consultants, operators, District Councils, Government Agencies and other PTEs.
  • Maintain the relationship with operators specific to punctuality and reliability, RTI and quality working closely with other members of the Data, Research and Intelligence Team.

Knowledge, Skills, Behaviours and Experience Required:-
  • GSCE English & Maths (A to C) or equivalent - Essential
  • Knowledge of databases and spreadsheets, including Microsoft Access and Excel – Essential
  • Knowledge of data-warehousing techniques, including the writing of queries to extract data in databases - Desirable
  • Understanding of the Passenger Transport Industry and the policy climate in which SYPTE operates – Desirable
  • Geographic awareness of South Yorkshire and surrounding area – Desirable
