M. Catherine Welsh Fund Proposal Form

The College of Human Sciences (CHS) International Programs office solicits proposals for the M. Catherine Welsh fund from the undergraduatestudents within HDFS, FSHN, and AESHM departments who are planning internationaltravel to professional meetings, workshops, seminars, and educational research. The amount of up to $2,000 will be awarded depending on the number of grants awarded and availability.

Deadline: April 20, 2016

Proposal Format

Format requirements for proposals are minimal. Please keep proposals to three pages. The following items are important to the office in the decision process:

1. Description of and rationale for the proposed travel;

2. Purpose of this visit and what will be accomplished;

3. Itemized budget which delineates the amounts requested;

4. A letter of support from advisor or major professor.

Submit the proposal in both of the following ways:

  • Submit an electronic copy via email to
  • Submit a hard copy to the CHS International Programs Office at 131 MacKay Hall.

In order to receive funding : 1) The grant recipients are required to submit original receipts of purchases/costs (up to $2,000 for full amount of award) for the travel proposed (i.e. airline tickets, lodging, visas, passport/photos, international travel insurance, etc.). These receipts can be submitted before departure of trip if available. 2) Upon return, recipient will submit a written report of outcomes to CHS International Programs office. 3) The grant award should be expended by June 30, 2016.
