Year 8 Landscape Painting
Investigating and Making
Level 3 Students mix colours to create tones which in turn helps to create a sense of space and depth in their landscape pictures
Level 4 Students experiment by creating colour greys for the
background and then increasingly stronger tones in the foreground so as to create a sense of depth
Level 5 Students use a range of mixing techniques to create a gradated sense of depth and are able to then add and layer in areas to create areas of interest/detail
Level 6 Students manipulate paint in a fluid way using a range of mixing techniques, layering and mark making to create a sense of the whole but also a sense of analysis of surfaces and textures
YEAR 8 Landscape Painting
Evaluating and Developing Work
Level 3 Students show evidence of planning their initial composition and enhancing this when developing with colour media
Level 4 Students show evidence of improving their initial composition through adjustment in drawing and paint
Level 5 Students show a consistent approach when working - open to improvements, developments as they build up layers and levels of materials. Students show good use of planning in homeworks 7,8
Level 6 Students constantly review their work, listening to advice, ideas and are prepared to take 'risks' and refine areas, introducing additional and new techniques. Students show good use of ideas/planning from homework tasks 7,8,9
YEAR 8 Landscape Painting
Exploring and Developing Ideas
Level 3 Students work observationally from the terrace view, using line to analyse different shapes and areas of the view
Level 4 Students work observationally from the terrace view, using line to show the contrast between various objects, creating a sense of scale and depth
Level 5 Students work observationally from the terrace view, use line to show the way objects contrast against each other but at the same time, link as a whole view, creating a sense of depth and space. They show a knowledge of angled lines/perspective. They use this knowledge in tasks 6 + 8 homework
Level 6 Students combine a range of drawing techniques to create a sense of depth and space within their landscape picture. A sense of the whole is created by linking different parts of the picture but areas have also been analysed in an in depth way. They use this knowledge fully in tasks 6 + 8 homework
Knowledge and Understanding
Level 3 Students have explored the way an artist creates a landscape picture
Level 4 Students have explored the techniques and methods an artist has used in exploring a landscape picture
Level 5 Students explore and comment on the techniques and methods an artist has used in a landscape picture
