Thrift shop

The Academy Spouses Club (ASC) operates the ASC Thrift Shop, a consignment store allocating consignment privileges to anyone with a DoD ID card. There will be only one consignment account per family. A DoD ID is not necessary to shop. Revenue from sales at the ASC Thrift Shop is distributed by the ASC for scholarships and charitable causes.

.

  1. We are staffed by volunteers. While customer service is of the upmost importance to us, we may stop accepting consignments before 11:45if we have insufficient volunteers. Inclement weather may also cause us to close unexpectedly. We will follow Academy School District 20 for weather related closings and delays. If D20 is delayed we will remain closed. Every effort is made to post a message on Facebook of changes to our daily schedule. We are closed on all USAFA Approved Family days.
  1. Items are consigned for a 6-week period. The consignor receives 70% of the selling price, and the ASC Thrift Shop retains the other 30%.The number of items you may consign per day may fluctuate

between 8 and 12 items depending on current inventory.Consignment forms may be found at or they may be purchased at the ASC Thrift Shop. When bringing in consignments, the Consignment Form must be completed prior to check in. The minimum price for any item consigned is $1.00. All items must be checked by a volunteer, and the ASC Thrift Shop has the right to refuse any item. You consign personal property at your own risk. We cannot accept responsibility for damagedor stolen items.

  1. All items must be saleable - clean, in good condition, in working condition, and in season. No recalled items may be consigned. Our volunteers can refuse any item not meeting these requirements. Consignor’s must test electrical items, include batteries if needed, and initial contract stating the item works. If consigned items are found to be broken, soiledor not working we will either donate them or throw them away, at our discretion.
  1. Large items – There is a waiting list for any large items. (furniture, rugs, etc.) Once placed on the list, you will be called when space is available.
  1. Items priced over $10.00 may be reduced once before their expiration date. It is the consignor’s responsibility to bring the item to the cashier or consignment room so a volunteer can update the price in the computer. Marking down an item DOES NOT change the expiration date.
  1. Any items not withdrawn by close of business (2:00 pm) on the expiration date become ASC Thrift Shop property. It is the consignor’s responsibility to track items consigned, as well as to withdraw any items they wish to reclaim before they expire. Scheduled closings are factored into the expiration date; unforeseen closing for weather or other emergencies are not. Consignors will not be notified when items expire. You may view your account and item status via the Internet, using the website.
  1. Withdrawing items before they expire – To withdrawal an item there will be a fee of .25c per item. MUST be removed from our computer system. Bring items you wish to withdraw to the cashier. The cashier will officially remove the items. Items may not be re-consignedfor 30 days.
  1. Consignor payments –Checks will only be issued for account balances greater than $10.00. Checks will be available from the cashier after the 10th of each month, for items sold the previous month. Checks are valid for 90 days. A consignor may leave a self-addressed, business-size envelope, stamped with a FOREVER stamp, and we will mail your check. Anytime during the current month,

account balances may be used toward the purchase of items from the ASC Thrift Shop.

  1. The ASC Thrift Shop will accept any usable donation in good condition. Donated items can be dropped off at the ASC Thrift Shop anytime during operating hours. Items may never be left outside our doors.
  1. It is our policy if a consignor is seen transacting a sale (for items going to be consigned) in or near the

ASC Thrift Shop, to include the parking lot, that consignor will lose privileges to consign for one year.
