Dear Ms Green

Freedom of Information Act 2000 – Request for Information

I am writing in respect of your recent enquiry for information held by the Authority under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Please find herewith the following:

Your request

I would like information about the recruitment processes for filling jobs in Digital Birmingham - namely, the details of jobs which have been created and filled at Digital Birmingham (or under the banner of the Digital Birmingham project) in the last two years, details of the publications / websites those jobs were advertised in, and copies of the advertisements.

Response

The Digital Birmingham project started in 2005 as part of Birmingham City Council’s Business Solutions and IT Division. On 01/04/2006, the Digital Birmingham programme became a division of Service Birmingham, the joint venture between Birmingham City Council and Capita.

The majority of the posts were created and filled by secondments from the City Council prior to 01/04/2006 under the Council’s regulations. Since 01/04/2006, following Service Birmingham regulations, new opportunities were firstly offered internally to staff and then advertised externally. Media for external adverts were chosen to create a good response at affordable prices i.e. through online advertising.

Over last 2 years the following jobs were advertised externally:

Project Manager Economic Development, Entrepreneurship and Regeneration

This post was backfilled after the previous post holder moved on. An internal advert was placed on 01/05/2008 on the Service Birmingham intranet, was unsuccessful.

The post was advertised externally in the Guardian Online and MyBirminghamJobs.co.uk (closing date 18/07/2008)
