This is a class that is designed to build on the concepts learned from Principals of Health Science class that is offered at the campus level. The focus is learning about different healthcare fields, employability skills, basic healthcare skills and the opportunity to go to clinical sites to see first-hand the skills needed to work in those types of settings. Students interested in the healthcare field would benefit from this class so that they can experience different types of settings and build a knowledge base that may enable them to pursue a career in the health care field.

***Transportation to clinical sites MUST BE PROVIDED BY STUDENTS. Clinical rotation site visits will take place one week a month during their regularly scheduled clinical rotation class time and will count as a test grade. All students are expected to go on their clinical rotation site visits. If a student is unable to attend a clinical rotation due to transportation issues, tardiness, or inappropriate behavior at the site, then they will be in jeopardy of receiving a failing test grade and the student may be removed from the class.
EMS-ISD provides daily transportation between the HCTC and the home campuses. Students my drive personal vehicles to and from HCTC with a 1.) Signed parent/guardian transportation form and 2.) Proof of automobile insurance on file at HCTC. HCTC will issue a no-cost parking pass after receiving both pieces of information. Students are not allowed to transport other students during the school day.
