Internet Access Guidelines in Dormitories (2009.9.1)
1) Information socket and network cable
Please find out the information socket near your desk. Each bed space in dormitories is equipped with an information socket. Use your self-prepared network cable (can be bought at the supermarket near KMU, or computer stores on Jianguo Road) to connect your computer with the information socket.
2) TCP/IP network setting: Select “Obtain an IP address automatically.” (DHCP)

5. Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) (press the right side of the mouse to right-click – Contents) →
6. Select “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain a DNS server address automatically.” (Confirmed)
3) Setting of browser: No need to make any special setting. Just connect directly!

6. Do not click on “Auto Detection” and “Proxy Auto Config”
4) Campus Internet Access Regulations: Respect intellectual property rights, and prohibit network abuse.
As a TANet (Taiwan Academic Network) connection unit, KMU has to comply with the Campus Internet Access Regulations, which include the important articles about respecting intellectual property rights, and prohibiting network abuse. For more details of the regulations, please visit:

5) Reporting of problems
Please borrow a computer with internet access first to enter KMU’s information system https://wac.kmu.edu.tw/

Type of Work Please select “Dormitory Network” and key in the following information:
1. Name of dormitory, room number and bed space number (e.g. New Dormitory 417-2).
2. The light of Network Card Link is on or off? (Check if the right lower hand corner of Windows’ desktop shows that the network cable has been disconnected – red cross.)
3. IP/Physical Address (Start → Implement [or Search] → cmd → Confirm → ipconfig/all)
4. Problem description (e.g. Unable to connect to a webpage or BBS at a certain time on a certain day in a certain month).
5. Time available for technicians to carry out repair or maintenance in your room (e.g. the 7th and 8th sessions on Mondays, the 3rd and 4th sessions on Tuesdays, or the 1st and 2nd sessions on Fridays).
