Code of Conduct Forms Must Be Signed and Returned

• 2009 Tournament Hosts Needed: Tournament hosts are needed for the following 2009 tournaments. The host is compensated $50 toward his tournament fees for hosting the tournament. If you are interested in being a host, please contact Bruce Barwick at X41582.

• NGRC Code of Conduct Form: Each member of the SPGC must sign and return a copy of the NGRC Code of Conduct form included after this section of the TTN. The form should be printed out, signed and returned to the SPGC S/1156 mailbox. The NGRC Code of Conduct form must be returned prior to participation in any SPGC calendar 2009 tournament.

• New Tournament Application Form: The SPGC Tournament Application form has been changed to accommodate the requirement for all guest players to complete a Release of Liability form before participating in any SPGC tournament. It is the responsibility of the guest player host to assure that all guest requirements are met. The new form is included in the back of this Tee Time News.

• Whittier Narrows Tournament: The application date for the January 24 Whittier Narrows Tournament has been moved back to December 8 in order to be able to comply with the golf course requirement to guarantee the number of players in the tournament in early January. Please make sure that you sign up for the Whittier Narrows tournament in December if you intend to play. The tournament will be a 2-Man Scramble. The tournament rules and team handicap definition are contained on the application form in the back of this TTN.

• New External Website: Kathy Broten has established a new external SPGC website at . The site is mostly complete, but Kathy welcomes any suggestions. Please visit the site at your convenience and provide her with feedback.

• SCGA Casual Golf Days 2009: Casual Golf Days are an opportunity for members of all skill ranges (no handicap limit) to enjoy a fun-filled day of golf at SCGA member golf courses that they may not normally have the chance to play. Casual Golf Days are scheduled different days and have a wide range of prices. They include round(s) of golf, a tee prize, lunch at some courses and an opportunity to meet and speak with SCGA staff members. The day will NOT include formal competition, scorecards, scoreboards or any other formal tournament-like aspects, which means no-pressure golf for everyone! Come out, play golf and make new friends within the SCGA membership! Visit for more information.

• SPGC Internal Website URL: The internal SPGC website has been moved and can now be accessed at Contents of the site include the 2008 & 2009 Tournament Schedule, current TOC Points List, tournament golf course scorecards and driving instructions, how to host a tournament, league information, tournament results, and membership information.

Member’s Code of Conduct

As a Member of NGRC, I understand that I must follow these rules to remain in good standing:

• I hereby pledge to be positive about my activities/sports experience and accept responsibility for my participation by following this Member’s Code of Conduct.
• I will encourage good sportsmanship from other members, players, team captains, and officials at every activity/game by demonstrating good sportsmanship.
• I will treat my fellow members, team captain, other players, officials and fans with respect regardless of ability, race, sex, creed, age, national origin, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation or other personal characteristic and will expect to be treated accordingly.
• I will refrain from the use of foul or inappropriate language.
• I deserve to participate/play in an environment that is free of un-lawful or un-prescribed drugs, tobacco and alcohol and expect others to refrain from their use at all activities/sports events.
• I will follow the NGRC bylaws.
• I will remember that activities/sports are an opportunity to learn and have fun.

I hereby acknowledge that I have read and understand the above and agree to be held bound by the Member’s Code of Conduct. If I fail to act as described in the Member’s Code of Conduct, I fully understand that Iwill no longer be able to participate in activities associated with any NGRCs.

2008/9 Tournament Schedule

The minimum numbers of tournaments required to qualify for the 2008/9 TOC is 6.

Club members are allowed to use USGA approved range-finders and GPS in all club events.

Tournament signups: For each tournament the signup dates are announced on the front page and in the tournament schedule of the TTN. The signup date is also posted in the tournament schedule on our website. The signup date, which is always a Monday, is the first day that you can sign up for that particular tournament. You can email the host before sending in your payment so they can put your name on the tournament roster. The tee times are set in the order of the received application and payment or notification. You can then send in your payment and application within the week. Some hosts may not put your name down until they receive your application and payment.

Each tournament has a maximum number of players based on the contract we establish with the golf course one year in advance. We try to accommodate as many players as possible. Signups for a tournament usually will be accepted up until two weeks before the tournament date. But be sure to call the host about openings before sending in your application and payment if you do not sign up within the first two weeks. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the VP of Tournaments.

Signup procedure:

1) Fill out your application form and email it to the tournament host.

2) If you use the generic form, fill out the course, the date of play and the host name.

3) Speed of Play Option 1 means you must finish the round within 12 minutes after the group ahead under risk of penalty. No selection or selection of Option 2 means you must finish within 20 minutes of the group ahead. Players choosing Option 2 will be placed in later tee times than Option 1 golfers.

4) Send your payment to the host as soon as possible. You will not be assigned a tee time until payment is received. Setting of tee times by the host is on a first-come, first-served basis.

*5) All Guests MUST fill out and sign a release of liability before the tournament.
