Members of the Hamline Midway community are invited to apply to serve on the newly formedHamline University Neighborhood Advisory (HUNAC/Advisory Committee). OtherAdvisory Committee members will include representatives from Hamline Midway Coalition (HMC), Historic Hamline Village (HHV), and Hamline Church United Methodist (HCUM), Hamline University, and arepresentative of the City from St. Paul Ward 4.

Advisory Committee Purpose

1.Improve and enhance communication and relationships between Hamline University and the Hamline Midway community.

  1. Establish an ongoing process for the Hamline Midway community and Hamline University to work together on matters of mutual interest and to strengthen community partnerships.
  2. Provide Hamline University with an opportunity to engage with the community on University matters that directly impact the local neighborhood and community.
  3. Advise the City of St. Paul on University projects and plans that require the involvement of the City and that directly impact the local community.

Advisory Committee Objectives: 2016 – 2018

  1. Create ongoing opportunities for dialogue and problem solving between Hamline University and the local community.

Examples of meeting discussion topics may include, but are not limited to:

area parking, crime prevention and safety concerns, neighborhood historic preservation, surveying of area historic homes, neighborhood beautification projects, etc.

  1. Engage the local community in the University’s ongoing development and implementation of its Campus Master Plan, especially as it relates to the University campus/neighborhood boundaries.
  2. Establish new community/University partnerships, targeted to address community-defined problems and needs, while increasing faculty and student educational and service opportunities.
  3. Encourage positive community engagement between the local community and Hamline University.

The first meeting of the Committee will be held in January 2016 (Date TBD). The Committee will hold monthly, 2-hour evening meetings, but will not meet in June, July or August.Members may serve up to two, 2-year terms.

NOTE: Preference will be given to community members who represent backgrounds, organizations and perspectives not already represented on the committee. In the Advisory Committee’s first year of operation, community members will be invited to apply for membership by adesign team that served to form the Advisory Committee. Members of the Advisory Committee’s design team include representatives from the following organizations: HMC, HHV, HCUM, Hamline University, and a representative from the City of St. Paul/Ward 4.
