I Look Funny Every Day (Word count 347)

Do you have a job? Most people have a job. Even students have a job. They don’t make money, but they still have a job. Their job is to go to school, study hard, and try their best to make good grades. If your job isn’t going to school, then you will make money when you work. Some people are doctors. They are doctors because they want to help people. Some people are teachers. They are teachers because they enjoy helping students learn. Some people are cooks. They are cooks because they enjoy food. What does a doctor look like? When he’s at work in the hospital, he sometimes wears a white coat. Then you know he’s a doctor. What does a teacher look like? When teachers are at work, they wear the same clothes they wear when they are not at work. What does a cook look like? When you see a cook at work, he might wear a white hat. None of these people look funny when they go to work. However, I always look funny when I go to work.

I know I look funny. I look funny every day. I look funny because it’s my job. I’m a clown. I make people laugh. Well, I try to make people laugh. Sometimes they do. Sometimes they don’t. I always wanted to be a clown. When I was little, I dreamed about being a clown. In school, I always did things to make my classmates laugh. I fell down a lot. I made faces. I made animal noises. My classmates laughed. But the teachers did not. I always had to stay after school. But now I get a little money to make people laugh. Is it an easy job? No, it isn’t. The clothes are heavy and hot. Make-up is no fun, either. And I spend a long time getting ready.
Sometimes people don’t laugh. Sometimes little children cry. Sometimes I’m tired or sick, but I still have to try to do funny things. And sometimes dogs chase me. Clowns don’t make much money, either. So why am I a clown? Because I think laughter is the most beautiful sound in the world.
