Dear Families of Snoqualmie Elementary School,
On behalf of all of the staff at Snoqualmie Elementary School, it is indeed my pleasure to welcome you to a new and exciting school year!
To begin with, I would like to share with you some of the behind the scenes efforts that have occurred over the summer to ensure our school is ready. Our maintenance and operations team has been hard at work and, thanks to their efforts, we now have roofs over the landings for all of the portables and new portable ramps. This is a welcome addition and the covered landings have already been affectionately referred to as verandas. In other behind the scenes efforts, our very own student Green Team and parent volunteers weeded, pruned and spruced up our school grounds. The school is ready and we can’t wait for our cougars to return.
Another team that was busy this summer was the hiring team. Here is a summary of the staffing changes for the 2014-15 school year. Mrs. Roubicek and Mrs. Zylstra are continuing their maternity leaves. Mrs. Caires and her familymoved to Nantucket, Massachusetts this summer. There were also two resignations over the summer, Mrs. Melissa Hinton and Ms. Gretchen Hinds. All of these outstanding educators will be missed.
It is my privilege to introduce to you the following new staff to our school:
Darci Aspinall- long term substitute for Deva Baruah who is out on maternity leave
Whitney Curtis- new second grade teacher who comes to us from Omak School District
Jennifer Dwight- new third grade teacher who is also a SES parent
Jennifer Irvine- new early childhood SLP who is also a SES parent (Mrs. Irvine is not new to the district)
Kristen Johnston-Saretto- new school psychologist
Ali Paredes- returning as a part time special education resource room teacher
Robin Rosenquist- new fourth grade teacher from the Seattle School District
Michelle Shadel- new first grade teacher who has completed long terms sub positions at FCE & NBE
Diane Tatum- new first grade teacher from FCES and prior to that OES
Anne Wiseman- returning paraprofessional for early childhood
Note: We still have two paraprofessional positions to fill so more hiring news will be shared soon.
We are very fortunate to have these highly trained, dedicated, and talented individuals on our staff.
The beginning of the school year is always a busy time, so I want to be sure you have all of the information you need. A list of important events can be found below. I would like to highlight the first upcoming event. At4pm on August 29, class rosters will be posted on the front doors of the school and available online through Family Access. NOTE: If you have lost your login, go to Family Access and follow the instructions for a forgotten password. You may do this even if you have never logged in before. You will receive an email with your login and password once you complete these password recovery steps.
