Winter Weather Reminders

Now that winter weather has arrived, please remember to send your child to school ready to learn and play in all settings. We will have outdoor recess every day as long as the temperatures are above freezing and it is not raining or snowing. Dressing your child in layers and making sure to send a warm coat for recess makes for a comfortable day at school.

Also, please remember that all medications, including seasonal and over the counter items like allergy medications and cough medicine, including cough drops, must be delivered to the nurse by an adult only.Students are not permitted to bring these items to school.

Note: A doctor’s signature is required for all items brought to the school nurse including age-appropriate Tylenol, Motrin and/or Advil.

Out of District Requests

Board policy states that students who attend Carroll County Public Schools shall attend school in their designated attendance area. However, in very specific and limited circumstances, students may be considered for placement outside of their attendance area. If approved, transportation is the responsibility of the parent.

Requests to renew an application for the 2016-2017 school year, will be made via the online renewal process. Those families will receive an email from the Student Services Department explaining the procedure to renew online. Renewing applicants who do not have a valid email on file at the school will be notified by mail.Note:Those out-of-district students currently attending North Carroll High School, New Windsor Middle School, and Charles Carroll Elementary School will not be included in the online renewal process. If these students want to be considered for a 2016-2017 out-of-district placement, the student shall complete a 2016-2017 OOD paper application or contact the Student Services Department at 410-386-1520 for assistance. Applications are available on the website, in all schools or in the Student Services Department.

New applicants should carefully review the list of approvable criteria found on the back of the out-of-district application or online at:

to determine if a student meets the criteria for approval. Applications are available online or at a school office. Carroll County Public Schools’ out-of-district policy and regulation will be strictly adhered to in making decisions regarding admission of students to schools outside of their assigned attendance area.

The deadline for out-of-district applications for the 2016-2017 school year is February 1, 2016. New applications must be postmarked or personally delivered by the deadline date to:

Carroll County Public Schools
