Chapter 30 MGIB
-Eligible for up to 36 months
-Eligible for up to 10 years and 1 day after ETS date.
-Pays monthly
-Paid directly to student following verifying monthly enrollment
-Paid based on rate of pursuit (LT ½, 1/2, ¾, FT)
-Individual responsible for making tuition and fee payment to institution
Can be used in conjunction with Hazlewood Exemption
-Non-transferrable

Chapter 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill
-Tiered based on active duty service days up to 36 months
40-100% coverage of in state tuition and fees
-Tuition and fees paid directly to institution
-Book stipend up to $1000/year

Paid directly to student
-Monthly housing allowance

Paid directly to student
-Can be transferred—must have done a transfer of entitlement while still active duty.
Chapter 35 DEA
-For dependents where the Veteran: 1) Died while Active duty for service connected injury, 2) Died while totally and permanently disabled due to service connected injury, 3) are totally and permanently disabled from service connected injury, 4) are listed MIA or POW for a minimum of 90 days, 5) are likely to be listed as permanently disabled.
- Entitled to up to 45 months of benefits with no extension
- Based on rate of pursuit (LT ½, ½, ¾, FT)
- Paid directly to student following verifying monthly enrollment

Chapter 1606/1607 REAP
- For Selected Reserves and National Guard
-with a 6 year contract
-Complete Initial Active Duty Training (IADT)
-Be in good standing with unit.
- Up to 36 months of entitlement
- Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) given by unit.
- Can be combined with other programs for up to 48 months of entitlement.
- DoD and DoHS make eligibility determinations, not VA
- If service member leaves the reserves, they have 1 year to rejoin to maintain benefits. If a member is disabled or deactivated, benefits will last for 14 years.
Chapter 31 VR&E
- For disabled (10% minimum VA rating) veterans who need assistance with employment because of disability.
- 12 year eligibility period (from ETS date, or from date the veteran was rated by VA.
