Youth Symposium

State winners (from each grade level) in contests 1, 2, and 3(awards 37 E-G) will receive certificates/ribbons and free lunch, T-shirt, and zoo admission on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Riverbanks Zoo Safari Club, Columbia, S.C. (Parents and siblings who attend, pay for lunch and reduced zoo admission.)

1. Smokey Bear or Woodsy Owl Poster Contest:

1st through 5th Grades, Size: 11” x17”. May not be three dimensional.

2. Poetry Contest 201 Theme: “Let It Grow”

Special Education and English as a Second Language: K-5 through 9th Grade

Regular Education: K-5 through 9th Grade. Must be typed and titled.

3. Youth Sculpture Contest Using Recyclable, Reused, or Reduced Materials

4ththrough 8th Grades: width x depth no larger than 8 ½“x11”, height proportional to

base. Attach two clear photos of the sculpture to the back of the Contest Entry Form

4. Youth Garden Club:

Requires at least 5 school-age gardeners, who have at least 5 meetings a year. Register

with the Garden Club of South Carolina, Inc. (Registration form online at GCSC )
