AD-Suggestions for New Schools

6 weeks before: meet with Principals & NE’s. Right afterwards begin working on the following items. Be sure to get deadlines for each of the items.

  1. Create a of the school labs in your school. Don’t forget to include all of the special ed software like tabe & mesa, or the community ed software like plato, or the reading software.
  2. Record printer names
  3. Record needed software
  4. Check if software is on approved software list.
  5. If not, give teachers the software packet to complete.
  6. Gather installers/software CD’s for each program needed.
  7. Record LanSchool channels
  8. Create a school map listing all computers found in your building. I listed the room #-teacher desktops-laptops-macs.
  9. Gather a list of all employees not currently employed by Granite School District, they will need to have logins requested by the principal. Have the principal send an email requesting access to the .

Meet with your staff three weeks before the migration. Give instructions to teachers on how to back up their computers. Emphasize that the NE team will not be able to help with this on the day of migration. Have a Google doc survey prepared for your teachers to complete for the following information.

  1. Create a list of the local printers in your school. For each printer not built into Windows drivers database, gather the installers in a folder on the S drive.
  2. Create a list of the scanner, document cameras, and other peripherals in your school. For each peripheral not built into the Windows driver database, gather the installer in a folder on the S drive.
  3. Create a list of software teachers need in the software deployment portal. For all software not packaged in the LanDesk software deployment portal, gather the installer in a folder on the S drive.

Create a list of the items that the NE Provisioning team needs to complete on teacher computers after the provisioning is complete.
