Sherry Zamora, President

I am the proud parent of two children in the Loudoun County school system – a rising 7th grader at Lunsford Middle School and a rising 9th grader at Freedom High School. I work as an attorney for the Federal government and am blessed to have a full-time job with flexible hours and work location which enables me to be an involved parent in my children’s education, sports, and many other activities. My husband and I are very active in our church and we both have volunteered in other capacities throughout our community.

For the 2017-18 school year, I served as the President of the Lunsford PTA. I also previously served one year as Vice President of Communications at Lunsford for the 2015-2016 school year and served for several years in the PTA at Hutchison Farm Elementary where I served as First Vice President for one year and President for two years. I am very excited about the educational and social opportunities for my children at Lunsford and Freedom and look forward to supporting the school through continued involvement in the PTA.

Edith Yanez, Vice President (Communications)

This is the first time I’m volunteering for the PTA. I’ve volunteered for other organizations providing training, and assistance for small businesses. I have one son, who is a rising 7th grader at JML. I enjoy supporting the school activities. I have time flexibility: I work sometimes from home, sometimes in the office. In addition to my roles as a wife and mother, I’m entrepreneur, business consultant, cake baker, sport and music lover, and runner. My motto: “Live today like there’s no tomorrow”. I’d be honored to serve as a VP of Communications for the PTA.

Rachael Canonica, Vice President (Events)

I am looking forward to working on the J.M. Lunsford PTA for the 2018-2019 school year as the VP of Events. I served in 2017-18 as the VP of Fundraising. I have also volunteered for organizations in the past including Habitat for Humanity, Junior League and Girl Scouts. Recently, I have worked with the Hutchison Farm PTA to put on Bingo Nights. I enjoy being room mom for my girls as well. My 8th grade daughter and I have been involved with NCL for the past couple of years and we have enjoyed bonding together through community service. I have lived in South Riding for the past 10 years with my husband and three daughters (rising 9th, 6th and 2nd). I just love the small town vibe here. When not volunteering you can usually find me at the gym, walking my dog or reading a book.

Susan Farey, Recording Secretary

I am so excited to serve as your PTA Secretary for the 2018-19 school year. This year my son, Oliver, will be a rising 7th grader at JML. He has truly enjoyed his first year at Lunsford and easily made the transition from elementary to middle school thanks to all of the support from his teachers. Living in South Riding for the past 15 years, I have been fortunate enough to be involved in his schools and am glad that I am able to continue this tradition at Lunsford. I enjoy volunteering at PTA events as well as working very closely with school staff and parents. Outside of school, I am self-employed as a healthcare consultant. Working from home affords me a very flexible schedule which allows me to pursue these volunteer opportunities. I cannot wait to work together to make this a wonderful and memorable school year. Go Lions!

Jenny Pittman, Vice President (Volunteers)

My name is Jenny Pittman and I am excited to join the Lunsford PTA Board as VP of Volunteers. I have lived in South Riding for 6 years, and have two wonderful boys - a rising 6th grader at Lunsford and a rising 3rd grader at Hutchison Farm. I work full time at home as a Senior Manager of Marketing & Business Development for a small IT company, which allows me the flexibility to take an active part in my boys’ school activities.

I am currently the PTA President at Hutchison Farm, and will remain the President for the 2018-2019 school year. I have also been the PTA Vice President, and have helped with numerous programs throughout the past 5 years, such as fundraising, back to school and bingo events, spirit wear, the Stone Ridge 5k, dining nights and much more. The PTA has provided the opportunity to have a great relationship with school staff and administrators at Hutchison Farm, and I look forward to developing great relationships with the staff at Lunsford as well. I am excited to support Lunsford by continuing my involvement with the PTA.
