New look decorations for Launceston Central City
Launceston’s CBD will begin its transformation into Christmas cheer this weekend with work set to commence on the city’s Christmas installations. Local business Design Inn has been commissioned by Cityprom to design and manufacture the city’s new Christmas Street Pole decoration.
The decision to purchase new decorations locally was an easy one explains Cityprom Executive Officer Vanessa Cahoon, ”We had a design in mind which was quite expensive to buy elsewhere, double the price actually and where possible our aim is to put dollars back in to the local economy’.Cityprom’s budget is only very small so we are always looking at options for getting the best outcomes with minimal outlay”.
“We wanted a unique design that would be attractive and relevant to shoppers, provide a festive vibe and compliment Launceston Central City’s new branding”.
As part of the manufacturing process, Invermay company Associated Welding and Roofing were also commissioned to manufacture the stainless steel base and brackets for the decorations. The new pole decorations have a fully welded stainless steel frame, and are covered in anodized aluminium mesh, riveted and sewn to the frames and the stylized present ribbons are wrapped in wire aluminium garlands with plated metal red and silver discs.
The new theming for the city includes additional decorations for the Christmas Tree along with new banners for the streets and Brisbane St Mall. Cityprom’s nativity lantern will also find a new home in The Quadrant Mall.
Launceston City Council has also contributed additional funding over two years towards the decorations and will provide labour for the installations at a reduced rate to Cityprom.
“The success of this project has caught the eye of major Commercial Christmas suppliers in Sydney with the potential currently being explored to facilitate local manufacturing of innovative new Christmas Street pole decorations for other cities around Australia”, said business owner Mr Colin Kent
