Introduction
The problem in the field of Psychology that I will focus on today is Anger Management. This is a behavior that would need to be modified. I do not agree that it is necessary to completely eliminate this behavior, however its appropriate application and use at any given time is desirable.
The problem exists because we live in an imperfect world and this makes me angry. The reason why I want to change the behavior is because I want to change the world. I want there to be a peaceful world and then I would not need to get angry. A peaceful, fair and just world.
Positive reinforcers include people, places and things that are fair, just and peaceful souls of society. Punishment is anger exhibited. Schedules of reinforcement include distributing my anger in moderate amounts to express my innermost desire for there to be a peaceful world.
I try to model my behavior around those people in my life who are wonderful people. There is not any extinction of those people who show themselves and prove themselves to be great people and members of society, as well as also those people who must be fought in terms of the hate and anger that they dole out to others.
Stimulus discrimination and generalization are when people do not make efforts to fully understand other people and they act fake and make assumptions based on racial stereotypes as an example. Also people who violate the law are a problem as well.
Primary reinforcers are great people around me who quell and eliminate my anger. Secondary reinforcers are people who are out there in the public eye who are such a positive influence on the greater society.
Here is My Plan:
1. Work as hard as I can. Exercise. Love my family and friends.
2. Give back to the community in any way that I can.
3. Pray. Pray for the world.
Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences
The eight elements of Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences are visual-spatial, body-kinetics, musical, interpersonal, linguistic, logical-mathematical and intrapersonal (TecWeb.org, n/a).
My test for visual-spatial would be how does someone understand the visual arts? This could be exemplified either through photography, television, billboards, interior design, architecture, design of automobiles, etc.
My test for body-kinetics would be how in touch is someone with their body and what formation or creation their body should be at in terms of their particular age, race, gender, culture, religion – not based on mass media images.
My test for musical knowledge would be how well someone understands a wide variety of music, as well as a wide variety of oral word and/or oral cultures.
My test for interpersonal would be how well does someone connect with others authentically, truly and honestly.
My test for linguistic knowledge would be based on the maturity and development from the cries of the baby, to the honoring of silences, to the screams, to the laughter and to the spoken word through whatever given language the individual has as their mother tongue.
My test for logical-mathematical would be – can the person keep a budget, manages their financial affairs, perhaps even do their own taxes if they run a life where this is possible.
My test for intrapersonal would be how well does someone relate to others on any given and the variety of forms of intimate levels that life gives to us. Is the person trustworthy? Is the person honest? Is the person loyal?
Conclusion
This essay has discussed an action plan to eliminate anger from a psychological point of view that would also help the greater good of international psychology. As well, this essay has applied a unique test for the eight multiple intelligences inspired by Howard Gardner.
