Digestive System Flow Chart
Left Side Assignment
Anatomy 112
Procedure:
- Divide your paper in ½.
- On one half of the paper, create a flow chart of the flow of food through all primary organs and sphincters using the following guidelines:
- If there is no food digestion in the organ/sphincter, use black
- If there is carbohydrate digestion only in the organ/sphincter, write its name in blue
- If there is protein digestion only in the organ/sphincter, use green to shade lightly over its name
- If there is lipid digestion in the organ/sphincter, use red to put a star near the name of the organ
- Include all parts of the small intestine
- Include all parts of the large intestine
- On the other half of the paper, create a table that meets the following guidelines:
- In the first column, list the primary organs where chemical digestion takes place (one row for each organ).
- In the second column, list the enzymes present that breakdown carbohydrates. If there are no enzymes present in this organ that breakdown carbohydrates, use NONE.
- In the third column, list the enzymes present that breakdown proteins. If there are no enzymes present in this organ that breakdown proteins, use NONE.
- In the fourth column, list the enzymes present that breakdown lipids. If there are no enzymes present in this organ that breakdown lipids, use NONE
- In the fifth column, list the accessory organ that assists the primary organ. If there are no accessory organs that assist the primary organ, list NONE.
