The ACT experience of being an NDIS Trial Site
NDISKey Learnings Questionnaire

About this questionnaire

MHCC ACT is undertaking a project to gain insight into the ACT experience of transitioning to the NDIS with a focus on psychosocial disability relating to a mental illness. You have been invited to participate in an important part of this project – a questionnaire designed to gather individual experiences of this process.

MHCC ACT will be interviewing service providers, consumers and carers. These different perspectives will then be analysed to provide (de-identified) input fora report. In this way the insights gained from the ACT being a trial site for the NDIS will be able to be shared more widely and contribute to the ongoing development of the NDIS.

Australian Catholic University Social Work Masters student Torsten Sadleir, is assisting MHCC ACT with this project.

What are we trying to learn?

From the information we are able to collect, we are trying to answer the following broad questions:

  • Has quality of services changed, have service availability changed, is there more choice and control, are there people left worse off? Are there people whose lives have improved?
  • What programs have been added or removed, how have organisational models changed, have there been changes to employment and recruitment practices, have job descriptions changed? What has been the cost of transition?

Who is being interviewed?

All participants will be from the ACT trial site, and can be broadly defined as:

  • consumers with psychosocial disability who have obtained NDIS packages
  • consumers with psychosocial disabilitywho are unable or unwilling to obtain NDIS packages,
  • Carers of people with psychosocial disability, and
  • Community organisations that provide a service toconsumers with psychosocial disability.

What about my privacy?

Information you provide will be kept confidential and be de-identified for discussion and in the final report.Only staff from MHCC directly involved in the project will have access to the information recorded from the interview.

What is required of a participant?

The interview will be conducted face to face at a location convenient for you. We ask that you allow up to 2 hours, but hope that in many cases we will finish earlier.

We will ensure the questionnaire is available prior to the interview to allow time to collect information necessary and consider responses.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, you can bring someone to support you during the interview.

Can I withdraw from the project?

Yes, participation in this project is entirely voluntary. You can withdraw at any point.

What is the benefit of participating?

This is an opportunity to share your experiences and contribute to a report that will help inform others of the transition process and add to the ongoing development of the NDIS.
