Speech Foundations: Collaborative Project – Day 4/5

Assignment:Establish a working space online for all the members of your group. This will be for internal communication and grading, not for public viewing of your project.

.5Read aloud: Remember that as you’re learning new skills, you may experience frustration. This is normal, but you need to respond professionally by remaining pleasant, polite, and seeking out the help you need from your group to be successful. Be a problem-solver. Start by reviewing your norms and roles.

1.Create a blank template website on sites.google.com. If it seems to take forever to load, exit and when you re-enter, it will probably already be there. Use Firefox or Google Chrome.

2.Make sure all members and your teacher () has secure access to this private group. (p.s., try the “share” button if stuck, choose “link to share” and email members of the group the link.) Be sure to make ALL group members OWNERS so all can post on your site. You must SIGN IN to access your site once you are made an Owner.

3.Create at least two pages

a. A discussion page using the “Announcements” template. This is where you will communicate and share progress and updates with the other members of your working group.

b. A tracking page using the “Lists” template, then create the page. Choose the “Action Items” template.

4.Have each member of the group add at least two separate comments or new posts on the discussion page TODAY.

5.On your tracking page, create a task titled “Saving Group Norms.”

6.Create a Word document titled “Group Norms and Jobs” that includes the 3-5 norms for your group and the roles. Save this on your tracking page.

7.On your tracking page, check off the “Saving Group Norms” task as completed.

(See how you will create a to-do list on the tracking page, then check them off once they are uploaded?)

8.On your tracking page, create a task titled “Brainstorm of Ideas.”

9.You will be persuading an audience of a specific message (to be determined later). Brainstorm at least 8 topics of interest to your group that you feel strongly about working to persuade others. i.e.: recycling at JM, sending cards to veterans, starting a new student group, etc. Save this Word document on the tracking page.

10.On your tracking page, check off the “Brainstorm of Ideas” task as completed.

11.Create a Word document titled “Agendas” that includes the updates from today’s work. You will continue adding to this as you work. Save this on your tracking page.

  1. Date:
  2. Group Members Present:
  3. Norms and Jobs review
