A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Jimmy Rose for his performance on NBC's "America's Got Talent."
WHEREAS, Jimmy Rose is a native son of the Commonwealth, having been born and raised in Pineville, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, Jimmy Rose is a 1998 graduate of Pineville High School. Soon after graduating, he went to work as a coal miner, a vocation that would profoundly influence his songwriting. Soon thereafter he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. He proudly served for two years in Japan with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit 3 Combat Assault Battalion, and then as Platoon Sergeant with the Second Force Service Support Group during Operation Iraqi Freedom; and
WHEREAS, Jimmy Rose has had a lifelong dream of being a successful singer/songwriter, and in 2013 that dream became reality. He was chosen to perform on NBC's popular variety show, "America's Got Talent," and behind the power of his hit song "Coal Keeps the Lights On," Mr. Rose finished third overall in the competition; and
WHEREAS, during his impressive run on "America's Got Talent," Jimmy Rose made millions of fans. Singing with heartfelt emotion, he made his community of Pineville and everyone in this Commonwealth proud, and for his extraordinary efforts he is now on a tour of the United States with six other acts from the show; and
WHEREAS, Jimmy Rose is the cherished son of Virginia Middleton and Jimmy Rose; the stepson of Larry Middleton; the brother of Jason and Chris Rose; the adoring father of Lexie, age six, and Preston, age four; and the boyfriend of Heather Morgan, who is the light of his life. His family and all his fans helped him become a star on "America's Got Talent," and because of his hard work, his God-given talent, and his faith in his Creator and his country, he has rightfully earned a legion of followers from around this country who believe in him and wish him the best of luck in all his future endeavors;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
âSection 1. The Senate hereby commends Jimmy Rose for his performance on NBC's "America's Got Talent," and acknowledges the hard work and perseverance he has displayed to become a successful singer and songwriter.
âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Jimmy Rose.
âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Brandon Smith for delivery.
