“Rising Star” Application 2014-2015
Bay Area Houston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is now accepting applications for our 2015 scholarship awards. Scholarships will be awarded in the amounts of $250.00-$500.00. The scholarships will be awarded to a student enrolled in an accredited college or university. The Rising Star scholarship targets students in the academic middle -B, C, and even D students -who have the desire to go to college and the willingness to work hard.
All application documents must be submitted in one large envelope. Applications that are late or incomplete will not be considered. Candidates may only apply for one scholarship from Bay Area Houston Alumnae Chapter.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
1. Applicant must be a graduating senior by June 2015.
2. Applicant must be ranked in the top quarter of the senior class or have a grade point average of “C ” or higher.
3. Applicant must enroll as a freshman in the fall of 2015 in an accredited college or university and must show proof of enrollment to the Scholarship Committee.
4. The Scholarship Committee must interview the applicant.
BASIS FOR SELECTION
1. Academics (grades and test scores)
2. School and Community Service Activities (other than church activities)

4. Three letters of recommendation on letterhead (if listing community service activities on page 4, one letter must come from that location with an address, signature, and contact information)
5. Financial Need
