Career Summative – The Portfolio Interview

THIS IS WORTH 30% OF YOUR FINAL GRADE!

You have been collecting pieces of work throughout the course in your portfolio. In your summative you will write a refection and share your completed portfolio in a mini-interview with your teacher.

1. The Reflection: In your reflection go over each unit of the four units and the tasks you have been assigned and write one paragraph answering the following prompts:

1. What did you learn in that unit?

2. What did you do well in the unit?

3. What did you find challenging in the unit?

4. How did you use your time? How could you have used it more effectively?

5. What were your general thoughts or impressions on the unit?

The four units were: All About Me, Careers, Education and Job Search.

2. The Portfolio: All items in your portfolio need to be tidied up and well organized. Items should be completed and free of errors. You will be given time in the computer lab to correct your assignments. Your teacher may ask to see any of the following items:

·  Values

·  Multiple Intelligences

·  Goal Setting

·  Crossword

·  All About Me Brochure

·  Career Cruising Activities

·  Career Profile

·  School Profile

·  Your Job Package

·  Your Reflection

3. The Interview: Take your teacher through your portfolio and then you will be asked the following four questions:

1. What are your two biggest strengths?

2. What are your two biggest weaknesses?

3. What type of job do you think you would be well suited for? Give two examples.

4. What was your favourite part of the course?

You should have answers prepared for these questions ahead of time. Your teacher will not be collecting written answers; however, it may be beneficial if you have something to refer to during the interview.
