2. Approval of minutes of 2013 AGM and matters arising: none raised. Approval proposed by Kevin Day and seconded by Pam Storey.

3. Officers Reports

Chairman: Thanks were expressed to Malcolm Collins for allowing the Club to hold the AGM on the back of his annual Gin Pit Marathon in the clubhouse, and for accommodating entries to the marathon to 100MC members. It should be noted that this is the first AGM that Roger Biggs has missed since the inception of the club. The club has grown from 384 to 426 members in the last year with 42 new full members reaching their 100 marathon milestones. As the club grows it seems people are buying into the concept of 100 marathons earlier than ever before. It has been noted that our American counterparts are beginning to tighten up the criteria for what events count which is a positive move forward and we will keep an eye as I am keen to keep our UK 100 Marathon Club the hardest one in the world to join, in terms of criteria. Over the past year we have been slowly bringing the club into the 21st century with kit payments moving online and very soon membership will be going online. As the club grows it is more time consuming to deal with the amount of administration this creates and moving to online lessens this load considerably.

Secretary: Nothing to report

Kit: Colin Poole has looked after our kit for many years and at the end of last year made the decision to step down both from the Kit Manager role and the committee to follow other interests. We would like to formally thank Colin for his years of dedicated service to the club. Rachel Smith has stepped into the Kit Manager role, at a time when the system was moving online and there is a steady flow of orders coming in for both club vests and accessories.

Membership: Gina Little has been the Membership Secretary for many years and earlier this year expressed a desire to step down from the membership role to concentrate on other interests. We would like to formally thank Gina for her hard work in this area which has grown to such an extent it is vastly different to what she first took on! With the impending move to an online membership which committee member Ian Berry has been heavily involved with it was decided he would be best placed to take on this role initially to see it through the transition and bedding in of the new system. There are currently 426members, of which 80 arewannabees. Membership and payment of fees will be moving online very shortly to a system called Wild Apricot. This move online will streamline the membership process considerably and will shift the responsibility for maintaining personal details such as address and email changes with the individual member. We would like to thank Ian Berry for his hours of work in setting up the system.

4. Treasurer: see attached accounts and notes. Howard Bailey talked through the accounts. TravissWillcox thanked Howard for quietly getting on and doing a huge amount of work for the club which goes largely unnoticed by members.

The approval of the accounts was proposed by Liz Tunna and seconded by Adam Holland

5. Election of Officers and Committee: There are no positions to be elected this year.

6. Approval of fees: With a healthy bank balance the committee has expressed no need to increase the fee this year. All present in the room voted in favour with no abstentions or objections. 1 postal vote was received infavour with no objections. Motion carried

7. Proposals and Amendments: There were no proposals or amendments received.

8) Presentations

9)AOB

  • Pam Storey suggested that the club has at least one event a year which everyone tries to go to and has a get together afterwards. She and Kate Jayden will look at one UK and one European marathon for next year.
  • TravissWillcox thanked Pam Storey for bringing in the Club Scrapbook for members to look at
  • Davey Green thanked TravissWillcox for the improvements to the website over the past year.
  • Pam Storey suggested that Ron Hill be invited to be an Honorary Member of the club. His name is listed on the Club Cup so it is assumed he has at some point completed 100 marathons and being over 70 would be a lifetime member now.
  • After the awarding of the Challenge Shield there was a discussion about the relevance now of including Irish road marathons in the Challenge Shield competition. Historically Irish road marathons were included as the Irish had no 100 Marathon club, but this has now changed and the Irish have a very active 100 Marathon Club. This will be discussed and decided at the next Committee meeting. Please note this refers to Eire only and not Northern Ireland which of course would still be included within the Challenge Shield.
